ViewSonic ViewBook Pro VNB131 official

ViewSonic today began shipping the ViewBook Pro VNB131, its first CULV-based ultraportable. The 13-inch system shown at CES is targeted at the high-end of the new category and comes in an aluminum body with a multi-touch trackpad. In a rarity, it carries a built-in DVD burner and 8 hours of battery life despite weighing 3.6 pounds and measuring about 1 inch thick.

The sole configuration on offer reflects its higher-end goals with a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive. ViewSonic also bundles a 3-cell drive bay battery that can replace the DVD drive and extend the total lifespan to 12 hours.

ViewSonic prices the VNB131 at $949 but expects different-sized ViewBook Pros with different specs to arrive in the spring.
