Software Cliq update improvements detailed
Motorola via its support forums revealed that the 1.3.18 software update has been released for its Cliq smartphone. The update has been sent out to the majority of owners already, and should improve the handset's battery life, the sensitivity of its touchscreen and boosted GPS performance. As well, it adds Quick Office 2, which will allow users to open, edit or create Microsoft Office documents.
The update also addresses several existing issues, such as improving missed call notification by making it more consistent, reducing spontaneous speakerphone activation and music playback through the earpiece instead of external speakers. Newly added is WMA and WAV file support as well. GPS performance has been sped up for tasks such as Google Maps and geotagging photos.
A software Bluetooth change will let OEM Bluetooth car kits display names of incoming callers, viewing call history and syncing the phone book so calls can be made over the car's interface. Users can also listen to visual voicemail over Bluetooth.
Contacts saved on the SIM card can now be imported, exported or deleted either in groups or individually. The latest versions of Google's apps are likewise part of the update.
The handset maker is also promising an update to the Android 2.1 OS soon, though does not specify when this will occur.
