Samsung LED 7000 and 8000 to get Skype video

Samsung this morning fought back against LG and Panasonic Skype deals by adding Skype to its own TVs. The LED7000 and LED8000 will have the software built-in to make video and audio calls when connected to the Internet. Samsung won't have a webcam option of its own but is recommending the Freetalk TV Camera.

The app will work through the existing Samsung remote and should support the full feature set, including both free Skype-to-Skype as well as paid SkypeOut calls to traditional numbers. Skype will exist on Korean models starting today, and those in North America and the rest of the world sometime in the first half of the year.
