Three new ASUS EeePCs leak with aluminum bodies
Three new Eee PC netbooks from ASUS have been leaked, all sporting 10.1-inch screens. The headlining notebook is the 1018P, a designer model said to sport an aluminum body just 18mm (0.7 inches) thick. It will also be one of the first netbooks to carry USB 3.0 and should bring a chiclet keyboard, a large touchpad and a fingerprint reader on the right side. Battery life is said to be 10 hours.
Next up among the BlogEee slips is the Eee PC 1016P, pictures of which aren't yet available. Meant for business use, it will have a more square design, a chiclet keyboard and a long 14-hour battery life. Its body will also be made of aluminum.
Finally, the Eee PC 1015P looks much like the EeePC 1005P. Unlike that netbook, however, it has a larger touchpad that's been moved away from the keyboard. Its chassis is again made of aluminum, unlike the 1005P, while battery life is said to be 14 hours.
While no details about processing hardware were announced, the three new netbooks are expected to be powered by a dual-core 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor. More details, including pricing and possibly launch dates, are expected to come at the CeBIT show due for next week in Germany.
