Symbian^4 video shows unexciting UI

Symbian4 not much differnet than rivals

Symbian through a pair of videos has begun ramping up attention for its longer-term OS project, Symbian^4. The development shows an interface fairly similar to Symbian^3 but promises a few rare features like home screen widgets that can be resized. Its photo browser is also a twist on the typical formula with a strip of photos at the bottom and a preview of a selected image.

While a significant change from Symbian S60, few genuine changes are visible in the short demo, and some of the changes were already present in early looks at Symbian^3. The OS is still in the early stages and won't ship until late 2010 or early 2011. Symbian^3 is due this summer and should add most of the meaningful interface changes, most notably multi-touch.
