Viliv S10 Blade goes for pre-order in the US
While Viliv had its S10 Blade convertible netbook on display at CES, it did not confirm North American availability nor pricing. The netbook has now appeared for pre-order in North America, and pricing will start at $699. The system appears only in the one configuration so far and, despite promises to the contrary, this base version will not support three-point multitouch inputs due to the inclusion of Windows XP Home.
The other six models of the Blade S10 haven't been priced yet. All will share a 10.1-inch, 1366x768 resolution resistive touchscreen with multi-touch support. They will also have the same 1 GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.0 and a built-in webcam. Processing power will come from either a 1.6GHz or 2GHz Intel Atom CPU. Storage comes from a 60GB hard drive or SSDs in 32GB or 64GB capacities.
Some models will also get HSPA 3G modules. Battery life is expected at 10 hours with the lower-powered Atom chip in the S10. The S10 weighs just under 2.7lbs.
Despite the availability of the pre-order, the actual shipping date is still unknown. [via JKOnTheRun]
