Dadi Perlmutter handling work in the interim

Intel has announced that Sean Maloney, executive vice president and general manager of the company's Architecture Group, is currently taking a medical leave of absence. The division head suffered a stroke while at home, although his doctors expect a full recovery.

Maloney is expected to take several months for recuperation before resuming his responsibilities at the chip maker. IAG executive vice president and general manager Dadi Perlmutter will take the reins in the meantime.

"I visited with Sean and his sense of humor and determination to return to work fill the room" said CEO Paul Otellini. "We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return."
