InFocus launches LCDs for business users
InFocus kicked off March by announcing it will soon begin selling thin LCD monitors optimized for business use. Traditionally known for its projectors, the LCDs are a new market for the company, and include 42-, 55- and 65-inch models. All have 1080p native resolution but can also support 1920x1200 resolution sent from computers.
The LCDs have built-in computer mode tables and on-board professional image scaling that automatically recognizes over 70 analog and digital PC and video modes, which is about five times more than consumer LCDs. Connections include HDMI, VGA, S-video, composite, component and an RS-232 port for integrating the LCDs into Crestron and AMX digital media and room control systems.
There is a Dynamic SplitScreen feature for showing two full-size content from two separate sources at the same time, while anti-burn software helps prevent image burn-in that is a common issue when monitors are used for displaying static images such as spreadsheets.
The new LCDs have heavy-duty metal housings, amplified speakers, VESA mounts and a modular design for making servicing easier. Their firmware is also upgradable.
InFocus thin displays are now available, priced at $1,399 for the 42-inch version and scaling up to $7,499 for the 65-inch model.
