Palm gives devs more options with webOS kit

Palm has quickly followed up the launch of webOS 1.4 with a matching 1.4 SDK. The developer kit now lets any third-party webOS app capture video, potentially allowing apps like Qik and Ustream. WebKit has also been upgraded and, in the web-based platform, improves both speed as well as features: Palm vows better CSS and JavaScript as well as more accurate use of HTML5.

The developer kit is available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows PCs. As with earlier versions, it will build code for all of Palm's current webOS phones and is free to use until an app needs to be submitted either to the App Catalog or sold elsewhere through Palm's unique web link system.
