Vrigin Mobile increases Broadband2Go data limits

Virgin Mobile USA on Wednesday set higher data limits for its Broadband2Go prepaid mobile data plans. The pricing schemes remain the same, but users get between 20 and 500 percent more data in all but the entry-level plan. Broadband2Go accesses Virgin's 3G data network and does not require an annual contract, monthly subscription or activation fee.

The basic package gives users 100MB of data for $10, which expires after 10 days, and is unchanged from its previous cap. The $20 package gives users 300MB rather than 250MB, the $40 option gives user 1GB instead of 600MB and the top-tier option has the best deal at 5GB instead of 1GB for $60. All of the latter three expire in 30 days.

Users need to buy the MC760 Broadband2Go USB modem made by Novatel Wireless to access Virgin's prepaid 3G network; it comes priced at $100.

    Still too pricey.

Extend the expiration time to 90 days instead of 30 and I'll consider.
