Palm Elan may have connections to Pixi
A rumor this weekend claims that one of AT&T's first Palm webOS phones would be a third device known as the Elan. In addition to the GSM Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, which have supposedly been certified and are ready to ship May 10th, the third device is believed to be entering testing in two weeks and could represent a break from current Palm design. The phone may have an on-screen keyboard and could be the first touch-only models from the company.
Separate, seemingly premature mentions of the Elan (one, two) appear to associate the Elan name with the Pixi, though these may be placeholders for an expected new model rather than an indication of the design direction.
If real, Elan its now only likely to ship weeks or potentially months after the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are available at AT&T stores. Regardless of exact timing, AT&T will likely be free to ship any Palm phone after April 26th, as the date purportedly marks the end of a three-month Verizon exclusivity deal.
