Samsung to sell E6 reader at Barnes & Noble
The release date of Samsung's E60 eReader introduced at CES in January has been narrowed down to sometime this spring. The electronics giant has also announced on Tuesday that the device will carry content from Barnes & Noble. This will include access to more than a million e-books, e-magazines and e-newspapers.
The E6 has an electromagnetic resonance (EMR) stylus pen which allows users to write on the device's 6-inch e-paper display, making annotations in the margins or other types of notes. A journal, scheduler and memo apps are all included, as is an electronic dictionary.
The E6 has a Wi-Fi connection, a 600x800 resolution image with eight grayscale levels and support for ePUB, PDF, TXT, BMP and JPG formats. There are integrated speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which lets users listen to e-books through text-to-speech or else straightforward MP3 audio. A Bluetooth 2.0 connection lets users connect wireless headphones.
Samsung gives the reader 2GB of internal memory and an external microSD memory card slot. With Barnes & Noble books, users can share LendMe books for up to 14 days with other Samsung e-book readers or the Nook.
Samsung says the E6 will cost $300, which is a quarter less than the $400 originally discussed at CES.
