32GB capacity to be available at launch

OCZ Technology on Wednesday introduced the Onyx SATA II 2.5-inch solid-state drive (SSD) series of storage components with a focus on low cost. The multi-level cell (MLC)-based SSDs feature 64MB of integrated cache and data transfer speeds of up to 125MB/s while reading, and up to 70MB/s during write operations.

The lack of moving parts helps make the SSDs more resistant to shock and temperature fluctuations, while mean time before failure (MBTF) is rated at 1.5 million hours.

The Onyx series will initially be available with 32GB of storage space for less than $100.
