O2: Video calls for iPhone a listing mistake

updated 10:20 am EST, Wed March 10, 2010

Accidental feature leak?

The addition of video calls to O2 UK iPhone plans was a listing error, says a company spokesman. "The iPhone section of our website states video calling is charged at the same price as voice calls," the spokesman tells MacNN. "We can confirm that this was listed in error. We will be amending our website shortly to clarify this and would like to apologise for any confusion caused."

The listing has fueled rumors that the next-generation iPhone, likely to be announced this June, could add a forward-facing camera for video calls over 3G. References to video calls can be found in the pre-release iPhone 3.2 firmware. It is also claimed that the next iPhone could be slightly taller, which would leave room for an extra camera, but might be intended simply for a larger display.
