Next-gen Flip cameras coming next month?

Cisco will reveal new generation Flip video cameras at or close to the NAB show, according to StreamingMedia executive VP Dan Rayburn. The official claims to have early specs of the new cameras, but will not share them as they are not confirmed.

The current Flip camera lineup is dominated by 720p cameras like the Mino HD and Ultra HD. Both were some of the first HD pocket camcorders but have since faced much stiffer competition from camcorders made by Kodak, Samsung and others that record in 1080p and have extras like optical zoom and still photo modes.

Last year, Cisco purchased Flip maker Pure Digital for $590 million. The deal was ostensibly made to reinforce the importance of video in Cisco's future but has seen few changes since the deal closed. [via SAI]
