Vodafone UK says HTC Desire, Legend due in April

Wireless provider Vodafone UK has confirmed and is taking notification signups HTC's Desire and Legend handsets, which are due for an April release. The news backs an earlier report. Either uses Android 2.1, and the Legend will an exclusive for Vodafone UK. The Legend will also include Vodafone 360 services such as Vodafone Music and MyWeb without disrupting HTC's Sense UI.

It also sports a 3.2-inch AMOLED display with a 480x320 resolution, along with a 5-megapixel camera and an optical trackpad.

The HTC Desire has an even larger 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with an 800x480 resolution. It gets processing power from a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and gets HTC's Friend Stream feature that gathers Facebook, Twitter and Flickr data. Both handsets have the usual access to Android Market for downloading apps.

Subsidized pricing at Vodafone UK hasn't been announced, but Amazon will offer the unlocked devices for the equivalent of $795 and $601 for the Desire and Legend, respectively.

Vodafone UK also mentioned that Google's Nexus One and Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X10, again with Android, will arrive soon.
