Windows Phone 7 Netflix app shown at MIX

WP7 would let users watch movies live

Netflix at Microsoft's MIX10 keynote today has shown off a mobile Netflix app for Windows Phone 7. The early app would be the first mobile app to not only browse the movie rental app's library but play videos live. Since Netflix already uses Silverlight, the app can play Watch Instantly titles without special tricks.

The app on show includes details like ratings and recommendations based on viewing habits.

No clues have been given as to when the app would be available, though WP7 itself is slated to ship in late 2010 and may be accompanied by the Netflix download. The software likely won't be exclusive to Microsoft's platform, as Netflix has said it's open to development for the iPhone and other mobile devices.
