WD intros 1TB My Passport SE for Mac

Drive equipped with hardware encryption
Western Digital has expanded its line of My Passport SE drives with two new capacities, 750GB and 1TB, formatted in HFS+ for Macs. Despite the higher capacities, both external drives still draw power from a USB connection rather than a dedicated AC adapter.
The company claims the SE drives can support maximum transfer rates of up to 480Mbps. Data can be protected using 356-bit hardware-based encryption if necessary.
The 1TB My Passport SE is now available directly from the company for $200, while the 750GB model can be purchased for $180.

Higher capacity doesn't mean it takes any more energy to spin the platters nor move the read/write heads of a hard drive. Of course it's still USB-powered, just like the rest of the line of drives.
