Canon details six LCD projectors for school, work

Canon on Wednesday released details on six new LCD multimedia projectors meant for teachers and business pros. The LV-8310 and LV-8215 have native 1280x800 resolutions, while the LV-7385, LV-7380, LV-7285 and LV-7280 occupy the lower end with a 1024x768 resolution. Because of their intended use, lamp life is rated at 4,000 hours in Normal Mode and 5,000 hours in Quiet Mode.

New features across the whole line focus on eco-friendliness and include a carbon reduction meter, an energy-saving standby mode, an automatic energy saver and an improved lamp system. The Auto Energy Saver mode will switch to Quiet Mode when no input signal is received for one minute. The standby mode consumes just 1W of energy.

The LV-8310 and LV-8215 are made to work with widescreen notebooks and are rated at 3,000 and 2,600 lumens of brightness, respectively. These ratings are shared with the LV-7380 and LV-7285, while the LV-7385 and LV-7280 have 3,500 and 2,200 lumens ratings, respectively. Connections common to all four include an HDCP-compliant DVI port, VGA, composite, S-video, Ethernet and wired remote jacks. A 7W speaker is built-in as well.

All six are due to ship early in April, with the LV-8310, LV-8215, LV-7385, LV-7380, LV-7285 and LV-7280 priced at $1,199, $1,099, $1,699, $999, $899 and $799, respectively.
