Galaxy Spica gets modern Android features

Samsung this morning pushed out an upgrade to Android 2.1 for the Galaxy Spica. The revamp gives it the added speed and features of the newer OS, such as better camera features and contact management. Samsung has also applied its own changes, including as many as nine home screens, custom widgets and visual bookmarking.

The update is being deployed for German users this month, but unusually demands Samsung's in-house PC Studio 7 computer software rather than Google's own over-the-air updating system. Other countries will get the update over time and will likely include the Rogers version that launched last week.
