iBuyPower intros four Core i7-980x gaming PCs
The latest gaming PC maker to introduce computers powered by Intel's latest Core i7-980X Extreme Edition CPU is iBuyPower. In a system upgrade today, the system builder launched the Paladin F890, Paladin F950, Paladin F970, and Paladin XLC V3, with all three sporting liquid CPU cooling systems. The XLC V3 ships with an overclocked i7-980X that runs up to 30 percent above the usual 3.33GHz clock speed. The F890 ships with 6GB of RAM, but the other three have 12GB of DDR3 RAM.
The F890 gets ATI's 1GB Radeon HD 5830 graphics card, the F950 has a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 card, the F970 a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5870 and the top-rung XLC-V3 has NVIDIA's dual 1GB GeForce GTX 285 cards in SLI mode. All but the F890, which has a dual-layer DVD writer, have Blu-ray drives, while the models other than the XLC V3 have a 1TB hard drive versus the 2TB unit in the F890. The F970 and XLC V3 also have an 80GB solid state boot drive preloaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate.
The Paladin F890 costs $2,159, the F950 $2,339, the F970 $3,189 and the XLC V3 $4,409.
