Review: Lexmark S605 all-in-one

Lexmark's low cost AIO printer tested

Lexmark has suffered from somewhat of a perceived quality issue in the marketplace over the past few years. The S605, however, promises to do everything: it's a photo quality 3-in-1 printer with a long list of added features included. We hope to learn in the full review if this all-in-one can repair Lexmark’s sullen image.

    congratulations

    You've brought hit-whoring to a new low.

"We wonder what kind of rating we will give this product."

Stay away from Lexmark if you're on a mac

I've had a Lexmark X502 all in one for just over a year. I've had already several service calls and the thing is in permanent Fan malfunction mode. IT is no longer under warranty and so it will cost me the price of a new printer to fix it. Additionally, the brand new color inks I've purchased no longer work so I have to print everything B&W.

They also have HORRIBLE mac support. When Snow Leopard came around last year, they never released new drivers for it. The is no way to officially use this printer any more under Snow Leopard. Customer support have said that they won't update it to SL. Its been documented in the forums as well.

Of course, a couple clever terminal-hound-type mac guys figured out how to make it compatible and their fairly easy fix was posted on the forums, but Lexmark has not updated their drivers and will not do so.

I do not trust this company. I also, don't trust some of the Mac sites I read prior to purchasing the $800 printer. Don't remember if it was MacNN or some other site, but lots of these sites (as much as I love and support them) tend to post reviews without really running the products through the mac wringer. It was touted as a mac-friendly all in one printer but it didn't even have scan drivers for mac (there are some unwieldy workarounds) and faxing from the mac was a no go. I was lucky to be able to print with it. So I paid an all-in-one-printer price for just a basic printer that couldn't fax or scan from the computer.

STAY AWAY FROM LEXMARK... otherwise you'll be sorry.

that one looks gorgeous!!! I'm in love:) I wonder is it available in the market? still will have to work pretty hard (and pretty long) to be able to make such a present to myself( for now will enjoy all the downloaded by http://www.mp3hunting.com SE pictures and articles describing it. maybe that will give me inspiration to try harder;)
