T-Mobile first in UK to carry XPERIA X10 handset
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 smartphone will arrive in the UK at T-Mobile UK first, and not Vodafone, as expected, though both carriers are still expected to receive the Android-powered device in April. The device can now be ordered at T-Mobile UK 10 days ahead of when it ships.
The X10 will have an 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and initially ships with Android 1.6. With an equivalent $52 per month plan and an 18-month contract, the handset is free at T-Mobile UK. The phone costs no more than $287 with a $22 per month, two-year voice and data contract.
The HTC Desire is also up for pre-order at T-Mobile UK, with delivery due in seven days. Prices range from free with a $52 per-month, 18-month contract, to $245 with a $15 per month, two-year contract. As before, the device is a close cousin of the Nexus One available in the US, including its 3.7-inch AMOLED screen and 1GHz Snapdragon CPU; HTC's Sense UI is the primary addition to the Android 2.1 foundations. T-Mobile UK will also include two free movie downloads with its version.
