Acer Aspire Ethos enroute with minimalist design, Core i7

Acer Ethos takes large notebooks upscale

Acer at an Italian event today showed a complete reworking of its Aspire notebooks. Unlike the glossy and illumination-heavy current design, the Aspire Ethos deliberately opts for a minimalist, metallic look with an edge-to-edge chiclet keyboard and matching display glass. It still packs a 5.1-channel speaker system but hides it in a subtler, thinner shape.

Two models begin the line and will both have Core i3, i5 or i7 processors depending on the configuration. ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series will provide dedicated graphics on the systems that use them. A 15.6-inch 5943G model will carry a single hard drive and a 1366x768 display, while an 18.4-inch 8943G will have dual hard drives (up to 1.28TB combined). Either can equip Blu-ray or DVD drives.

Ship dates and pricing weren't given, either for Europe or elsewhere. [via Notebook Italia]
