First JooJoo tablet orders arrive March 29
Fusion Garage sent word today that the JooJoo tablet has started shipping more than four months after it was first unveiled. Pre-orders have been given first priority and should receive their units on March 29th. Others will get their devices depending on when they ordered.
The launch follows multiple delays and puts the JooJoo within five days of the release of the iPad, its most obvious rival. In the interim, Fusion Garage has had an opportunity to revamp its interface and fully integrate Flash. Fusion Garage has tried to argue that the JooJoo will benefit from Apple's presence, but most expect that Apple's sheer marketing influence and retail presence will give it an edge.
The two devices take very different approaches to the category. The JooJoo has a larger, sharper 12-inch touchscreen and has an NVIDIA Ion chip that can accelerate 1080p video, but it has just 4GB of space and is focused almost exclusively on web content. Apple's device is smaller and only capable of 720p, but it has a full native app platform and as much as 64GB of space. Both cost $499.
