Sprint's HTC Hero may get Android 2.1 on April 9th

Sprint to bring Android 2.1 to Hero in April?

A leaked Sprint memo and some information from an unnamed tipster have indicated on Friday that carrier Sprint will release an update for its HTC Hero handset on April 9th. An anonymous tipster told this fix will actually be the Android 2.1 update, which will bring faster performance, far more features, and software fixes. This includes but is not limited to an issue with Sprint Picture Mail where incoming messages appear as a link instead of a thumbnail image.

Back in December, Sprint promised the Hero, along with the Moment, would skip over Android 2.0 altogether in favor of Android 2.1 from the current 1.5 build. Other than that, the early April release will also match the provider's promise of delivering the update in the first half of 2010.

    Speculation

No where does that memo talk about an android 2.1 update. it talks about a fix for picturemail. This is speculation.

Sprint's HTC Hero may get Android 2.1 on April 9t

Note the date that this was posted before reading.

That's great news, I been have waiting for this update for a while now, and I am so excited that it is finally here!! .....Hmmm that's strange....I went to HTC's website to look for it, and it isn't anywhere to be found. Wait....they said April 9th, so it should be there and here it is May 12th, 2010....and still no update anywhere in sight.. Maybe I will try back in a few months and see if it is available then. Only problem is by then, I will have had the HTC EV0 4G for a few months and my Hero will no longer be relevant any more and I will be using it as a paper weight.
