AT&T brings 24Mbps U-verse service to all markets

AT&T on Monday announced it will begin offering its fastest U-Verse High-Speed Internet Max Turbo service to every current U-Verse market, which would give users the option of 24Mbps downloads and 3Mbps uploads. U-Verse is currently offered in 120 cities in 22 states. The Max Turbo service is priced at $65 per month when bundled with AT&T U-Verse TV or $95 per month for smaller businesses.

New U-Verse customers get free installation, while existing U-Verse users can simply upgrade their service. With the bundled TV service, users can program DVR recordings from any cellphone or computer with Internet access, view personalized news on their TVs using the AT&T U-bar.

U-Verse subscribers also get access to AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspots, which number 20,000 across the US.

    24 MBS Not Likely

I would hazard a guess that this would require that youa ctually have FIOS from the last mile to your house in order for this to work. I currently have ATT-Uverse and it is ok, but I have had to settle for POTS from the pole to the house. ATT won't even begin to tell me when they expect to complete the build out to provide FIOS to the house. Sounds like more marketing hype from a company that provides half baked results.

    No clue

gmsquires, you have no idea what you are talking about. Search ADSL2+. There obviously will be an upper limit to copper based DSL but it hasn't been reached yet, not by a long shot. FTTN is just getting started.

No fiber here, and it goes to 23 on a good day.

Not Yet Available in my area.

Not true. AT&T has not rolled out to everyone yet.

When I try to get the service I get the following error:
We're sorry. The speed you selected is not currently available in your area. Please select a different speed for your service.

    Humbug

I'm glad I'm not alone. It's not available in my area (North County San Diego) yet either! I get the same message as texxasmike, bah! I'm considering switching to my local cable company. Their highest package is 30mbps with future plans to roll out 100mbps.

@DiabloConQueso: speedtest.net's servers are usually getting hammered and not a very reliable source for accuracy. There are numerous other speed test sites available. Heck, try ATT's DSL speed test page: http://speedtest-sntcca.sntcca.sbcglobal.net/speedtest2/page3.html
