HP adds small form factor, six-core workstations

HP adds five Workstation PCs for professionals
HP last week showed off its new range of Workstation PCs, including the first small form factor available globally, the Z200, as well as the Intel Xeon 5600-series, six-core processor-powered HP Z800, Z600 and Z400. All are new for 2010, and include a range of firsts for HP as well as the newer Intel processors.
The small form factor Z200 is one of the first workstations its size and can be ordered with Core i3, Core i5 or quad-core Xeon 3400 CPUs, with clock speeds ranging from 2.93GHz to 3.46GHz. A 2.8GHz dual-core Pentium CPU is also available. It can be ordered with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of disk space. A 64GB SSD drive will be optional in May. A FireWire 400 card, Blu-ray drive is an option, as are NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295, Quadro FX 380 LP or ATI FirePro V3800 graphics cards.
The Z400 workstation's processor choices include 2.4GHz, 2.53GHz or 2.66GHz dual-core Intel Xeon 3500 chips, up to 24GB of RAM, 8TB of hard drives and either an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 or dual Quadro FX 1800 graphics.
The Z600 desktops can be had with 2.13GHz through to 2.93GHz processors in Intel's Xeon 5500 and 5600 series, offering as many as 12 processing cores. Users can spec up to 48GB of RAM, as much as 6TB of hard drive space and NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 or dual Quadro FX 1800 graphics cards.
The HP Z800 offer the newest Intel Xeon 5500- and 5600-series CPUs, with clock speeds between 2GHz and 3.2GHz as well as up to 12 processing cores. There is also the option of outfitting the Z800 with as much as 192GB of RAM, 10TB of hard drive space and dual NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800 graphics cards.
The HP Z200 SFF Workstation will ship globally on April 5th, with US prices starting at $739. The Z400, Z600 and Z800 are now available, with prices starting at $929, $1,579 and $1,929, respectively.
