TomTom brings lifetime map, traffic updates to US

TomTom this week said it will bring free lifetime map and traffic updates to owners of its portable navigation devices in North America. Map updates will keep devices up to date, with fresh downloads every few months, reflecting any new communities, roads and points of interest. Also, compatible models will get real-time traffic updates every three minutes, updating new total drive times and suggesting quicker alternate routes whenever possible.

Another feature of TomTom navigators include Map Share, which lets users edit maps and shere these improvements with other TomTom users online. Models compatible with lifetime map and traffic updates include the TomTom XL and TomTom XXL products. Prices for these start at $200.
