Google may have slight edge on iPad with tablets

Google as a side note to news of built-in Flash for Chrome has confirmed that its upcoming Chrome OS will get similar treatment. A representative said the Flash move was part of a wider strategy and would apply to the web-centric platform as well as Linux and Mac versions of the browser. Whether this would arrive with the first Chrome OS devices, due in the second half of the year, wasn't mentioned to TechCrunch in the response.

The news is a potential coup for Google, which could guarantee streaming web video and gaming even with the requirement for frequently low-capacity flash memory storage on Chrome OS systems. Tablets are also part of the long-term strategy and would have out-of-the-box access to Flash, giving Google a slight edge over the iPad and even the new wave of tablets using its own Android platform. The more mobile OS will get Flash 10.1 later this year.
