HP slate teaser shows support for iTunes

HP tablet could sync iPad

HP today teased its slate by posting another video for the device. The new clip focuses on expansion and points out that the slate has true USB ports and even shows an Apple device syncing with iTunes running on the tablet. Theoretically, an iPad could actually sync with the HP hardware.

The teaser also shows an SD card slot, contrasting against the iPad's necessity for an adapter, and a cradle that could be used to prop up the slate while it outputs video to a TV. No details have been given as to performance, although the use of Windows 7 will likely require an Intel Atom chip.

HP has still said nothing about the ship date or the price, but Spanish executives have already claimed it would arrive in June and may cost more than the iPad, although European pricing may not directly mirror that in the US.

Old news remember the Compaq TC 1000

The only difference I see in these new "Tablet/Slate" devices is that it doesn't need a stylus like it used to when they were running Windows XP Tablet Edition.

This whole tablet craze is OLD news.... The only thing thats new is that Apple decided to make one and now the model without the swivel keyboard is the most popular.

    Remember this thing... http://www.tabletpctalk.com/pictures/compaq-tc1000.shtml

Compaq TC 1000... the thing is actually 100% fully detachable from the keyboard/docking station.

    no surprise

it runs full windows, and has USB ports, so of course it'll support synching of devices like the iPod,iPhone,iPad.

    Yawn!

You call it teaser I call is Crapware or Vaporware. It is destined to go straight to Overstock.com or worse. HP sucks as a company. They have rotten customer support.

SD card == endorsing one format over another.

SD cards are used by some cameras while Sony cameras use memory sticks and it is likely that a new card format will come along soon. Why stick it to owners of Sony cameras and why saddle the iPad with a slot for a format that could get replaced by something new in a year from now?

Bleee - no, what's new is that we have an operating system / UI that is designed around touch, not pen.

The tablet concept dates back to the late 60s/early 70s. Pen-based computing - ditto. Think graphics tablets, Palm Pilot - and that's even before the last decade of Windows tablets.

The problem with the Windows tablet was that it was conceived as a cross-breed of a Palm Pilot and laptop. No functionality could be lost. The new breed (the iPad, and Android devices to follow) are more around extending the ideas already explored with the Palm and Newton.
