MainGear Quantum SHIFT PC has up to 3 Quadro FXs

PC maker MainGear has released its Quantum SHIFT workstation PC for creative pros. Unlike its gaming PCs, the SHIFT can be ordered with up to three NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics cards. The full tower can also house up to 96GB of RAM, with processor choices that include Intel's quad-core 3.2GHz Core i7 or the six-core, 3.33GHz Extreme Edition.

Buyers can choose from the 1GB Quadro FX 3800 or the 4GB Quadro FX 5800 at the high end, along with the GeForce GTX 470 and GTX 480 in either single or dual setups. Three Quadro FX 5800 graphics cards result in 12GB of video memory, but add an extreme $11,901 to the base price.

The Quantum SHIFT otherwise ships with DVD and Blu-ray burners and can be outfitted with a combination of both mechanical hard drives and solid state storage. The base Quantum SHIFT using an X58 chipset starts at $3,399, while a Xeon-based version costs $3,995.
