Tablet offers multitasking, Flash support, USB
Additional details of Neofonie's Android-based WePad tablet have surfaced, including pricing information and additional specs, according to CarryPad. The Atom-powered device is only slightly more expensive than Apple's iPad, commanding 449 Euro ($610 USD) for the 16GB Wi-Fi version. The upgraded model, which carries a price of 569 Euro ($770 USD), adds several additional features including 3G components, GPS, 1080p external video, and 32GB of integrated memory.
Despite the impressive list of specs, the company lists a battery life of "around" six hours. Apple boasts a 10-hour run time for its iPad tablet. The WePad also weighs in at 800g with an 11.6-inch display, significantly heavier than the iPad's 680g weight that has been criticized by some reviewers. Other known specs include two USB ports, Flash support, an SD card reader, and 1.3-megapixel webcam.
It is still unclear if the device will offer Google Marketplace, although Google was not named as a partner during the startup's recent press conference. Recent reports suggest the search giant is working on its own tablet device.
