Gigabyte outs driver for USB iPad charging

PC maker Gigabyte has come up with a software driver for mainboard that can support the iPad's higher charging needs. Standard USB 2.0 ports on PCs will only charge the new Apple tablet when it's off, but not when running. Called the On/Off Charge driver update, the software will enable some of Gigabyte's most common AMD and Intel mainboards to charge the iPad using USB 2.0 in either state.

The new driver supports a the Intel X58, P55, H55, and H57 chipsets, as well as the AMD 800 mainboards. Owners of most newer Macs have not reported the charging issue with their USB ports. [via SlashGear]

    Yay!

Thank you Gigabyte. Ironically, the ghetto Windows gaming rig I built is now more iPad-ready than any of my Macs.
