PS3 PlayTV to get Facebook support in update

An update to Sony's PlayTV for the PlayStation3 is currently under development that will bring with it Facebook support. There will be other new features in the update, though exactly what these involve is not being revealed. Testing is already underway, however.

The release for the update is also not yet known, but likely to be later this year. PlayTV is thus far only available to Australia, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Great Britain and Ireland. PlayTV is the first official TV tuner for the PS3 and lets users record Freeview broadcasts thanks to its dual DVB-T tuners. It can record and output supported 1080p programs. It also includes a program guide and users can access the service using the Remote Play function from their PSPs. [via PlayStationBlog]
