Seagate adds Netflix streaming video service

Hard drive maker Seagate over the weekend announced it will add Netflix' streaming movie service to its FreeAgent Theater+ HD media players. At the same time, the devices will get access to free or low-cost services from YouTube, vTuner and Mediafly. Owners of existing Seagate media players can download a free firmware update that will bring the new functionality, while all new media players will ship with it preloaded.

The FreeAgent Theater+ HD also acts as a UPnP/DLNA media streaming device and costs about $100 without a FreeAgent hard drive that can be docked inside it.

Last week, Seagate announced it is preloading Paramount movies onto its FreeAgent drives, suggesting the hardware maker is focusing on bringing more multimedia content to all its hardware in the future.
