Maingear updates eX-L 15 with Core i5, i7

Maingear brings Core i5, i7 to eX-L 15 gaming PC


Custom PC builder Maingear has refreshed its 15.6-inch eX-L 15 gaming notebook with Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The notebook was introduced last August topped out with a 2.53GHz Core 2 Quad. The new version has much faster Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics and can be had with a 1080p screen, though a 1600x900 display is standard.

The standard CPU is a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, though a dual-core 2.66GHz i7 and a quad-core 1.73GHz i7 are optional. There is 4GB of RAM standard with room for 8GB. Storage options are also generous, with a 250GB hard drive standard, with options for a 320GB and 750GB drive, as well as solid state drives up to 512GB in capacity. A dual-layer DVD burner is standard, and a Blu-ray drive can be custom-ordered.

Wi-Fi is built-in, and connections include DVI, HDMI, and optical audio along with usual extras like eSATA and FireWire.

The refreshed eX-L 15 is already up for sale, with prices starting at $1,599.
