Amazon now offers ASUS Eee Keyboard for pre-order

The much-delayed ASUS Eee Keyboard, billed for a release near the end of April, has now gone on pre-order at Amazon, though no ship dates are given. The listing does finally reveal the final price of the device, at $599. The Eee Keyboard amounts to a wireless netbook that connects to larger monitors thanks to Ultra-Wide Bandwidth (UWB). There is, however, a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen built in for handling certain tasks without a larger display.

Otherwise, the Eee Keyboard has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD preloaded with Windows XP Home. Wi-Fi, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1 and an HDMI output are also built-in, along with three USB 2.0 ports. The UWB receiver is fast enough to let users play HD videos wirelessly on larger monitors.
