Google stops attempts to improve Nexus One speeds
An Android support forum post suggests Google has given up on trying to resolve poor 3G reception issues of the Nexus One handset. Google acknowledged the problem back in January and tried to fix it, but with no success. The latest proposed issues include changing the wireless network settings to find a network automatically, as well switching the WCDMA preferred setting for 3G to WCDMA only.
Nexus One owners have reported slower Internet speeds and worse reception than other T-Mobile phones, including Android-powered devices, in the same physical area and on the same network. It's not clear if the AT&T or upcoming Sprint versions might encounter the same problem.

so?
I don't have any other devices to compare to besides my older HTC Magic, but I find the performance of my N1 to be entirely acceptable in terms of 3G performance. The battery life in 3G is *way* better than my Magic, too. And (this is not 3G, but) the WiFi antenna is far more sensitive than my MacBook Pro, connecting me to networks my MBP can't even see.
