Android Market passes 50,000 apps

updated 09:20 pm EDT, Fri April 23, 2010

Android already at 50K app milestone

Android has already crossed the 50,000 app mark, new stats from AndroLib show. Just a week after Google officially confirmed the 38,000 app mark, a raw estimate now says the mobile app store has added 10,000 more apps within at least a few weeks, if not sooner. The count doesn't factor in apps that have been pulled but does cover apps not always listed with other unofficial tallies.

The milestone still leaves Android significantly behind the iPhone's official 185,000 but has it catching up at a rapid date. Android Market has accelerated to a rate of almost 8,800 new apps per month and could reach the 100,000 mark sometime in September if its current rate stays the same. An increase is more likely as a greater number of Android 2.1 smartphones and wider market share could feed into development.

The most likely timeframe for an official update from Google is the company's upcoming I/O conference on May 19th. [via Android Central]

I'm sure there are many duplicate and triplicate..

flashlight and f*** apps. Oh yeah, and don't forget the thousands of p*** apps. As Steve Jobs has sadly said. If you want p***, go to Android, because they've got plenty of apps for that. Hehehe.

    Apple is scared

No wonder they are mad at Google. Goole is going to beat the living daylights out of Apple.

wrenchy ol' bean, hate to say it but you're the worst kind of poster: nothing to offer, little stabs at digging at mac users, no crackle at all...

    in short, you're a bore.

    useful

phones are to make calls, apps are to make phones more useful, android is made to make making apps for phones easier and more open.

p*** is everywhere, it's like saying cars make robbing banks easier. there are two kinds of people, people fixated on p***, and people fixated on other people fixated on p***.

jesus wept, if you don't like p*** don't install it on your phone. any android phone can make calls, any iphone can make calls (snicker, most of the time).

    if. you. don't. like. p***. don't. get. p***.
if. you. do. like. p***. have. at. it.

that said, I think the quality control bar on android apps will eventually go up, people will make crappy apps, other people will buy crappy apps, but the good apps will make wading through the c*** worthwhile. apple itself has made some pretty crappy products in the past. cough newton.

did you look me up? why, i'm touched! such concern is very moving. i'm gettin all misty here.

can ol' bean, that's not original nor meant to be. it's the way we speak ol' boy. it's ok, we can't all be cosmopolitan. so you can have your 2 points back. save them for something snappy.
