PS3 3.30 upgrade to have much more than 3D

Sony's PS3 3.30 update is now known to have significantly more than just the 3D preparations thanks to updated release notes. The patch brings both raw and pre-mixed bitstream audio to Blu-ray movies when using optical audio. It's presumed this will be limited to the slim PS3 and other models that have the hardware support for bitstream output.

The update also enables remote play from a PC and should let "future models" of VAIO computers steer certain functions of the PS3 over the local network. Sony plans to explain the feature on its VAIO page in May. Previously, remote play was only an option for the PSP. [via TheSixthAxis]
