Aliph Jawbone Icon gets A2DP support

Aliph today released an update to its Jawbone Icon Bluetooth headset for cellphones that gives it ability to stream music and other audio files. It now has A2DP and lets users get any audio regardless of the type, such as from navigation apps or Internet radio stations. The Icon was previously limited to the typical mono, hands-free protocol for calls.

Owners of current headsets can update the firmware at the company's MyTALK page to get access to the newfound functionality for free. The Jawbone Icon remains priced at $100 and should support most common music-capable smartphones, including the iPhone.

    about time!

It's about time a mono bluetooth allowed access to stereo streaming. Or, I was waiting for Apple to put stereo content into a mono stream for bt headsets.

What a waste to have a nice headset and not able to listen to either mono music, or more importantly, podcasts etc.

Might tempt me to get one!
