Jobs may answer tough questions at show
Apple chief Steve Jobs may present at this year's D8 conference, a rumor this afternoon suggests. The executive has "tentatively" agreed to answer questions at the Rancho Palos Verdes-based event and, if so, would be at the same event as Microsoft's Steve Ballmer as well as Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and other tech luminaries. Kara Swisher, who usually co-hosts the show with Walt Mossberg, would only say to SAI that Jobs had been invited.
Apple hasn't commented on the authenticity of the claim.
An acceptance by Jobs would mark his first appearance in three years; he last time he appeared, he shared the stage with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. It would occur under a different context, however, as Jobs might have to answer tougher questions about App Store policies or the company's feud with Adobe over Flash. D8's connection to the Wall Street Journal might also have Jobs talk about publishing on the iPad, including both through the iBookstore and native apps like the WSJ's own.
