Garmin-ASUS A10 phone centers on foot travel
Garmin-ASUS today launched its third Android phone in less than a year. Unlike the driving-oriented Garminfone and its A50 sibling, the A10 puts its focus on walking directions and has custom GPS software tailored to on-foot GPS. A newer version of Android is also probable as the phone supports multi-touch in the web browser.
The full-touch phone still supports driving directions and is bundled with a car mount that amplifies the phone's built-in sound. Garmin-ASUS has given a mild feature update by outfitting the A10 with a five-megapixel camera instead of the earlier three and a relatively large 1,500mAh battery.
Asian and European users are known to be getting the A10 first with an indefinite mid-2010 release planned. Whether or not the phone reaches the US is uncertain. Garmin did bring the A50 over to the US as the Garminfone and doesn't have as much need for a second US model, but additional carriers and a replacement for the original AT&T nuvifone are possibilities.
