Pentax launches Option M90 camera in Europe

Pentax has signaled the near release of its latest compact digital camera, the 12.1-megapixel Optio M90. It comes coated in an uncommon rubber exterior for a better grip and has a relatively strong 5X wide angle digital zoom lens. Photos can be previewed on a 2.7-inch LCD screen and the camera has improved facial recognition features, smile capture and blink detection compared to older models.

Other features include 20 scene modes and automatic pasting for panoramic photos. Videos can only be recorded at a resolution of 640x480, however. The camera ships with Pentax image viewing, filing and editing apps. When the camera arrives in Europe priced at the equivalent of $180 in mid-June, it will be available in burgundy or black. A US release hasn't appeared but may come soon. [via TechDigest]
