Ally to be first LG Android phone for US

LG today tipped Verizon's hand and confirmed the existence of the Ally in a promo for Iron Man 2. The phone is LG's first Android handset for the US and will have a unique tie-in with the superhero movie: an augmented reality comic book will be given away with certain LG phones, and a similar feature will be available on the website itself. One of the apps will be made for Android, but the Chocolate Touch and enV Touch will also count towards the comic book promo.

Little has been said officially for the phone itself, but previous leaks have cast it as a variant of the LU2300 that would have the same 800x480 capacitive touchscreen, 720p-capable 1GHz Snapdragon processor, QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.1. Its most conspicuous change in Verizon guise would be the shedding of a dedicated directional pad on the outside.

Bundle deals at Best Buy and elsewhere are expected to stop on May 8th, but the phone itself should arrive on May 20th.
