Syabas says OK to run YouTube after limits

Syabas mentioned today that both the Popbox and Popcorn Hour can once again stream YouTube videos. The networked media hubs had lost the ability to play the clips in the fall but now have access again courtesy of a change in YouTube's terms of service. What prompted the change wasn't evident.

Company chief operating officer Alex Limberis didn't know whether the resumed features would include YouTube's new movie rental store, which is now fully active in the US after a brief tease late last month. Syabas would need to either integrate Google Checkout to pay for rentals or else a way of browsing any rentals that have already been unlocked at a computer.

Both of the two boxes are designed as catch-all TV media players that support multiple different services. The Popbox revolves around Popapps that extend its functionality for individual services and sites. [via AllThingsD]
