Verizon to start taking Kin orders Thursday

A new slip from within Verizon has the company starting pre-orders for Microsoft's Kin phones this week. Both the Kin One and Kin Two should be up for sale May 6th and will ship to stores May 13th. The contact for Slash Phone hadn't obtained the pricing, though either is likely to be under $150 on contract and possibly $100 or less.

The phones are both an unusual combination of high- and low-end features in a non-smartphone design. They both lack support for third-party apps and have relatively small screens, but either has original NVIDIA Tegra hardware to provide high speed, support for syncing music over the Zune app or Missing Sync, and either 5- or 8-megapixel cameras with flash. Verizon is the first carrier, but Vodafone has been confirmed and many major carriers in Asia, Europe and North America should have the Kin line this year.
