Version 14 upgrades BIM server
Graphisoft has released an update of its BIM -- Building Information Modeling -- application, ArchiCAD 14. ArchiCAD is BIM server software, focusing on open collaboration modeling design. The professional CAD software features IFC translators optimized for exporting model data to various structural and MEP applications like Revit Structure and Revit MEP, according to Architosh. It supports pack and go project design, allowing designers to export a transportable design package and work on it without accessing the server.
Version 14 improves the open workflow for BIM models used by architects and engineers using different tools. ArchiCAD 14 has new features like model mapping, element classification, IFC model version tracking and support for changing management. The new version also upgrades the Graphisoft BIM Server technology and Teamwork functionality. There are productivity improvements, better modeling construction elements, better 3D visualization, enhanced 2D drafting and improvements to handling libraries.
ArchiCAD 14 will ship in June 1, requiring Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. ArchiCAD pricing for version 14 has not been released.
