HP intros new entry-level computer monitors

HP will soon launch three new low-priced monitors, including the 20-inch 20-inch S2031, 21.5-inch S2231 and 23-inch S2331. Each has a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, VGA and HDCP-compliant DVI-D connections, as well as two-lamp panels rather than four-lamp units for lower power draw than most screens. They also share a 5ms pixel response time.

The S2031 has a 1600x900 panel and a brightness of 250 nits, while the other two have full 1080p resolutions and 300 nits of brightness. The S2031 will cost $150, the S2231 $190 and the S2331 $220 when all three are released on May 16th.

refresh rate of 5ms or faster is...

An indication of TN junk. Very easy to tell.

    Quality or lack of it?

HP sponsors a big booth in Disneyland (Anaheim, CA). It's inside of the circular 'Innovention' in the Tomorrowland area. I was shocked to see all the displays smaller than 26" were twisted nematic (TN) junk. My eyes hurt by the time I walked out of there.

    lack of quality...

I'm sorry, but what part of "LOW COST MONITORS" makes you think that you would get top-of-the-line LCD panels?
